Safety Data Sheet

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is a document which contains information on chemical ingredients used to manufacture the product (as well as potential hazards associated with them), and safety guidelines for employers and workers handling the product during various processes.

The SDS has the data on the various chemicals, bio-actives, substance classification and information about managing potential hazards in case they arise. It is compulsory to have your SDS to enter any market, and it states the safety levels of the materials used for human consumption and the environment.

At GCRS we can:

  • Create the SDS based on regulatory requirements
  • Check and assess the occupational hazards of certain compounds in the product
  • Assist right interpretation, providing professional support to classify the products criteria is met/use of SDS effectively
  • Provide a safety assessment

Based in Cardiff, GCRS can help businesses throughout the UK with their SDS needs. We can also help you with additional legislation, as detailed below.

Cosmetic product safety reports for consumers

We can assist you with the main documentation needed to show Cosmetic compliance in a regulated market. It is an integral part of the Product Information File (PIF), which is needed for every product launched onto a market.

The purpose of the safety report is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of each active ingredient and chemical in the product. It contains things such as product characteristics and specification, foreseeable futures, toxicological profiles, possible reactions from exposure to other substances and side effects, as well as general usage and warnings for the products.

We:

  • Create a case-by-case safety report.
  • Act as a safety assessor helping you create the safety report needed to show compliance to a regulated market.
  • Assess each product to define its qualitative and quantitative composition for a smooth and hassle-free market entrance.
  • Research ingredients used in cosmetic formulation (to check they are allowed in the intended region).

Product Information File

This is a document containing information about raw materials, qualitative analysis and safety reports, and it is a legal requirement for products sold on the EU market. It needs to be in the national language of the country it is being formulated in. The PIF should be made easily available for easy inspection by the authorities as it proves the veracity of the claims about the product and enables the product to be placed in the market without any regulatory liabilities.

We help formulate the PIF in the national language and within the regulated guideline of the desired marketplace.

Our work includes:

  • Product description
  • Product safety report
  • Manufacturing method
  • Proof of claims
  • Data on animal testing
